Pioneering Acute Sector Redesign
About
TIER 2 APPROVED
The acute care team at Warrington and Halton Hospitals Foundation Trust has redesigned the way the hospital monitors patients and responds to any patients whose condition deteriorates on the wards.
The team of doctors, nurses and specially trained practitioners have created new systems of summoning emergency responses from doctors, redesigning out of hours and weekend support, and reviewing patients.
Evidence has already shown a reduction in the number of patients having cardiac arrests and in overall mortality.
The initiative entitled 'Reinventing the wheel' was a finalist in the 2015 Health Service Journal Awards for Acute Sector Innovation and the project was outlined at a recent HSJ Value in Healthcare Congress.
