Eva Applications - Improving Patient Safety

By Ed Marsden , Eva Applications Added 27th Feb, 2020 Updated 9th Mar, 2020

The Eva team is comprised of three organisations: Verita, AlfaPeople, and Microsoft. The partnership is combining knowledge, technology, and data to revolutionize patient safety. Investigating harm is not only a CQC requirement but more importantly a vital task to get right if we are to learn from incidents and improve care & service delivery to patients. At the moment investigating is almost entirely a manual process. The result is that investigations aren’t carried out in a consistent way and little real data is available to tell us what contributed to an incident. Eva solves both those problems.

About

Eva is a new brand of patient safety technology. Our first application helps frontline NHS staff investigate serious patient safety incidents by guiding them through the investigative process. With automated tips and guidance drawn from the application’s rich knowledge base, Eva goes about gathering and interpreting the data behind the scenes to deliver consistency, support and a wider understanding of the improvements needed in patient safety in the healthcare sector. Simple, streamlined and standardised – the Eva Investigation Application is a new and revolutionary way to manage and improve patient safety investigations. Easy to integrate with existing patient safety processes, this powerful technology designed by the UK’s leading investigation firm Verita will help:

- Guide investigators through simple processes, with the added support of training tools and automated processes

- Aid investigators in the creation of rich, formatted reports populated with a simple click of a button

- Pool information into a centralised dashboard where investigators can monitor progress and detect themes in real-time

- Share data across hospitals, sites and the NHS, with state-of-the-art security and privacy features, for shared learning and broader patient safety improvements

Eva is web-based and single sign-on, taking only 2 weeks to set-up in your organisation. As well as their initial training, there is an ask Eva feature which gives help and guidance throughout investigations. Eva is currently being used by organisations in the UK.
