Talk It Out

By Ross Faulkner, Talk It Out Added 16th May, 2022 Updated 11th Oct, 2022

When it comes to our mental and emotional wellbeing, what we think is what we feel.  The challenge is that 95% of how we feel comes from our subconscious. Which means most of us have no idea why we’re having a good day vs. a bad one.

Talk It Out is a simple, human way to look after your mind by going for a walk, and talking into an app.

About

According to the World Health Organisation, 1 billion people are suffering with poor mental wellbeing.

  • Two thirds of those suffering won’t speak to another human being and so suffer alone as they’re worried about stigma, or they lack access to mental health care.
  • Initial research conducted by Unilever for Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust showed that by using Talk It Out for 10 mins a day, for 10 days:
  • Anxiety dropped by 37%,
  • Satisfaction with life increased by 38%
  • Productivity increased by 39%.
  • On the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale, users’ overall wellbeing moved from ‘possible depression’ to ‘average/high mental wellbeing’, in just 10 days!

We’re running a larger research project with Unilever and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust with a view to publishing the findings for peer review later this year and have just started R&D into an AI version of the app and are keen to partner on both projects.
