Detecting medical staff burnout in real time

By Roy Cohen, Behavidence Added 1st Apr, 2022 Updated 17th May, 2022

Digital phenotyping is a novel way to detect and manage mental health conditions. Using smartphones to capture real life symptoms and daily behaviour offers a practical tool for monitoring and implementing early and responsive care. Previous research has used biomarkers along with wearable devices to generate digital biomarkers for stress. Behavidence developed applications and tools that use a novel approach by incorporating only non-intrusive smartphone based passive data to predict burnout and enable real-time interventions and monitoring of burnout signals to enable better retention, productivity and wellbeing of the staff.

About

Behavidence (www.behavidence.com) is a commercial company that builds mental healthnavigation tools to help monitor mental health conditions such as Depression, Anxiety and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) using the technology of digital phenotyping. (Digital phenotyping refers to the science of leveraging behavioural data from smartphones to characterise individual human traits). Behavidence application generates a Mental Health Similarity Score daily. This score reflects a percentage that intends to inform the user of how similar their digital behaviour is to that of someone who was diagnosed with high burnout, stress, depression, ADHD or Anxiety. It is a measurement metric that enables the user to identify when to seek help, monitor whether therapy is effective or not, and which daily stressors exacerbate or improve the scores.
