Concentric digital consent

By Dafydd Loughran, Concentric Health Added 6th Jul, 2021 Updated 2nd Aug, 2021

Concentric is a digital consent (aka econsent) application which transforms the traditional paper consent form process and is now in use across a number of NHS Trusts and Health Boards across the UK, including Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Consent for treatment is a key element of care, in terms of the quality of clinical decision-making, experiences of patient-centred care, and organisational medico-legal risk.

About

Concentric makes it easy to share personalised, evidence based information with patients to support consent conversations with clinicians, with the ultimate goal of supporting informed, shared decisions.

Used across all specialties and across emergency and elective care, NHS Trusts have been able to shift to digital consent by default across the organisation. Digital consent - alongside other elements of surgical pathways such as digital pre-op assessment - is supporting organisations to recover from the pandemic and increase activity beyond 100% business as usual, with remote consent functionality playing a key part in that.

The team at Jersey General Hospital wrote up their experience of introducing digital consent which you can read here.
